Welcome to Magazine Release Wednesday Nov. 22: Glänta / Bidayat

On the Arab World After the Arab Spring

It is our great honor to welcome five leading editors, writers, and artists behind the Beirut-based magazine Bidayat to Sweden. The magazine was founded in connection to the uprisings in the spring of 2011, and gathers voices from the Arab world under the common slogan, ”For all seasons of change”.

In a unique project, Glänta has published a double issue of texts assembled by the Bidayat editorial board, translated from Arabic into Swedish.

During two evenings of readings, lectures, discussions, and visual displays, editors from both Glänta and Bidayat will present the issue in Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Welcome to Rutiga Golvet at the Royal Institute of Art, Skeppsholmen, Stockholm, on November 22, at 5pm.

Participants:
Fawaz Traboulsi: author, translator, historian, and editor-in-chief of Bidayat
Jana Traboulsi: illustrator and artist
Cynthia Kreichati: writer and sociologist, works also with Médecins sans frontières
Zeinab Souror: journalist and writer, based in Beirut.
Dima Charif: journalist and producer at Al-Jazeera
