About the library
The Royal Institute of Art library is located on the ground floor of the main building on Skeppsholmen. The library is currently closed, with a preliminary opening date in October, 2025. More information will be available shortly.
The library’s collections reflect the activities in the form of education, projects, research and other activities conducted at the Royal Institute of Art. Students, teaching staff, researchers and visitors thus shape the content of the library.
The library has replaced its local library system. There is now also a self-service lending machine in the library at Mindepartementet.
Search for literature
Royal Institute of Art’s library: Koha online-catalog.
In the Koha online catalog it is possible to search for the literature available at the Royal Institute of Art’s library. If it says that the book is on loan for temporary storage, it means that it is packed and will be available in the newly opened library in the fall. To see what literature is available in other libraries, it is possible to search in Libris here.
Microlibrary at Mindepartementet
The temporary library at Mindepartementet contains a selection of books related to the courses in the Fine Art programmes, as well as parts of the journal collection. Some journals, related to architecture, are also available at the Hägerstensåsen community center.
Information in spring and summer 2025
During the spring and summer of 2025, information about the library will be updated regularly on this page. Over time, there will also be links to databases as well as a list of journals and other information related to the teaching and research conducted at the Royal Institute of Art.
Purchasing suggestions
The library is happy to receive exciting purchase suggestions. If there is interest, the library can also borrow literature that is not available at the Royal Institute of Art.
The library’s motto is that those who use the library should also protect and create its content.
