In the intaglio workshop students can work with all sorts of intaglio techniques including etching, drypoint, engraving, monotype and photopolymer. The printing plate can be made of card, plastic, aluminium, zinc, copper or polymer. Inks, papers and printing plates can be combined and can be printed in many different ways.
The etching workshop is in well-lit premises, fully equipped and with a safe working environment.
Courses in intaglio techniques and photopolymer are offered each term.
HISTORY
As a printing technique, engraving was invented in Germany about 1430. Martin Schongauer was one of the first artists to use the technique.
